KidGist

Text message reminders

Last updated: August 2026

KidGist can send you optional text message reminders about your own children's school and activity commitments. Texts are switched off unless you turn them on yourself. This page explains exactly what we send, how to start, and how to stop.

Who this is for

KidGist is a service for parents and guardians aged 18 or over. Text messages are only ever sent to the account holder, at a number they entered themselves. We never send text messages to children.

What we send

Only two kinds of message, both about schedule information you have given us by forwarding your own school and activity emails:

  • Event reminders — upcoming events we found in the emails you forwarded.
  • A weekly summary — an optional overview of the week ahead.

We never send marketing or promotional texts, and we never text you on behalf of anyone else.

Example messages

KidGist - Monday, Sep 8:
* Soccer practice
* Library books due
See dashboard for details.
KidGist weekly summary:

Emma: swimming Tue 4pm, school photos Wed.
Jack: excursion Thu, permission slip due Mon.
Full details in the app.

How often

Message frequency varies, and depends on how much is happening in your family's calendar. Most families receive at most one reminder a day, plus the weekly summary if they have it switched on.

How to opt in

There is no way to receive a text from KidGist unless you do this yourself:

  1. Sign in to your KidGist account.
  2. Go to Settings > Notifications.
  3. Enter your mobile number.
  4. Tick the consent box, which is unticked by default.

This is the consent box exactly as it appears in your account settings:

SMS program details · Terms of Service · Privacy Policy

We record both your consent and the moment you gave it. As soon as you opt in, you will receive one confirmation message:

KidGist: You are subscribed to reminders and weekly summaries. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel.

Costs

KidGist does not charge you for text messages. Message and data rates may apply from your own mobile carrier.

When we send

You choose your own reminder times in Settings > Notifications — an evening reminder the night before, and a morning reminder on the day. We only send at the times you have chosen, in your own local time zone, and we never send a text before 6am or after 9pm.

Morning reminders are deliberately available before 8am, because they are only useful if they reach you before the school day starts.

How to stop

Reply STOP to any message from us and the texts stop immediately. STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END and QUIT all work too.

You can also switch texts off at any time in Settings > Notifications, without sending anything.

If you change your mind, reply START, or tick the consent box again in your settings.

Help

Reply HELP to any message, or email us at contactkidgist@gmail.com.

Replying HELP returns:

KidGist: school and activity reminders. Msg frequency varies. Msg and data rates may apply. Help: contactkidgist@gmail.com. Reply STOP to cancel.

Your privacy

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your opt-in and consent are never shared with any third party, and are never sold, rented, or transferred to data brokers or lead generators.

Your mobile number is only used to send the messages described on this page. If you opt in, your number and the reminder text are passed to our messaging provider, Twilio, to deliver the message. If you never turn texts on, we never share a phone number with them at all. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
